Room to Heal plays in the Refugee World Cup!

News 17 September 2018

Room to Heal members have recently formed a new, self-organised group, the Members’ Committee. The Committee brings together members who want to generate ideas around Room to Heal’s development, including social activities, educational opportunities, and new projects.

The Committee has also started its own football team, and last Saturday they played their first game in the Refugee World Cup, organised by the British Red Cross. It was a fantastic day of making new friends and connections, supporting the Room to Heal team, and getting on board with the Committee’s new project. It showed how football can bring people together, being a valuable avenue for integration and creating community.

We already have footballing connections with the Arsenal Foundation supporting our casework team and their community team helping our members to get into work. But we’re excited to now also have a football team of our own!
