Room to Heal in Tunisia

News 19 December 2016

Our director, Mark Fish has visited Tunisia twice this year to share the Room to Heal model of working and deliver training in therapeutic group-work (groupes de paroles) – once back in May and again this October. He delivered training and workshops for psychologists working with OMCT (World Organisation Against Torture) and at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Tunis, to enable them to deliver groupes de paroles for survivors of torture and organised violence. The training also enabled participants to address vicarious trauma stemming from their work.

On the last occasion, Mark and his counterpart from OMCT, a Tunisian psychologist Rim Ben Ismail, who also co-facilitated the above, were funded by an American organisation, Chemonics to provide similar training to a group of psychologists and educators from OKLES, an NGO based in Sabratha, Libya, supporting children affected by conflict.
